Our Philosophy
Quality Child Care
We are committed to nurturing a safe and loving environment for children to feel connected to so they can securely explore their world and maximize learning and healthy development. The key elements to care provided at Keiki Trails Childcare are a warm, caring, and stable environment, appropriate stimulation for development levels, ample time for unstructured play and engagement with nature and music.
Communication with families is an important piece of care provided at Keiki Trails Childcare. Families are informed of their child's daily activities through HiMama, an app used to send what the child ate, when they slept and photos of their adventures.

Keiki Trails Childcare offers a cozy, home environment that is welcoming to both children and their families. We believe in child embeddedness in which children are a part of the larger community. Families are encouraged to share their culture with us through recipes, storytelling, music, art and more. Our home welcomes children with a large play space indoors and outdoors. We also regularly visit Lochdale School Park, Halifax Park Trails and spend ample time every day engaged in child initiated free play in nature, rain or shine.

Curriculum

Emergent Curriculum
Keiki Trails Childcare is overall play-based and follows an emergent curriculum. Emergent curriculum is to offer an enticing environment and then follow the child's lead and work as co-researchers together exploring and learning. Children may engage in short or long term projects based on their interests and we are there to facilitate furthering their exploration through these projects.

Jump Into Music
Part of offering an enticing environment and stimulation to explore, Keiki Trails Childcare proudly uses Jump Into Music. This music curriculum is done once a week and explores music from all around the world. The games, songs and dances offer a jumping off point for the children to explore and celebrate different cultures. More information about this locally made curriculum can be found at https://jumpintomusic.ca/
We feel incredibly lucky to have had our son in Stefanie’s care for the past 2.5 years. She is warm, engaged, creative and extremely reliable, and has helped our son blossom through her positive and loving approach to care. Anyone would be lucky to have their kids in Stefanie’s care!
Parents of 3.5 year old 2020
Stefanie and her childcare philosophy has served both of our children exceptionally well in their key early years. She has cared for our two boys for 2.5 years. Her focus on safety, love, music, routine, and personalized engagement has led to an incredible connection with both our 4 year old and 2 year old. We also love that she gets them outside every day! We are forever grateful she has cared for our children in a highly individualized way that brings out the playful person in each of them.
Parents of 4 year old and 2 year old 2020
When we found Stefanie's daycare we had been through a hard few years of changing daycares. From our first meeting at Keiki Trails we felt like we'd found "our home" for our daughter, a place she could learn, grow, and thrive while we both worked full time. Finding the "right fit" is SUCH a challenge given all the events in the world these days, and we truly felt comforted knowing our daughter was cared for and nurtured. Our only regret was we didn't find her sooner!
